Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez (CA-46), senior member of the House Armed Services Committee, released the following statement in response to comments made by Department of Veterans Affairs Secretary Bob McDonald about veterans' wait times for appointments:
"I'm disappointed by Secretary McDonald's callous comments. We cannot disregard waiting times. These wait times can be a life or death matter for our veterans. We've seen the devastating results of delays in treatment, from veteran suicide to veterans dying while awaiting care. Furthermore, the Government Accountability Office's recent report concluded that VA schedulers continue to manipulate wait times and very few are being held accountable."
